Pop-up ADF Careers Centre—PACC

A modular, mobile engagement centre to lead the Australian Defence Force (ADF)’s regional recruitment strategy.

Adaptable, innovative and agile, PACC champions ADF values and is designed to be stationed in regional cities for up to three months at a time. Pop-up units become a small commercial precinct, providing various levels of activity and professional function by catering to public forums, to smaller group engagements, and private consultations.

Nguluway DesignInc provided interior design services for the project, collaborating with DLG Shape for Adecco/ADF Careers.

Stealthy, resilient and transportable.

PACC units are similar to that of a shipping container or a tiny home on wheels, road compliant yet sizeable enough to fulfil its role once it arrives at its destination. Being modular, PACC can be arranged in a number of ways to suit its temporary environment. Orange mesh and black acoustic panelling headline a ‘stealth’ design aesthetic, complementing technical requirements such as Virtual Reality (VR) experiences which are part of the candidate offering.

A Designing from Country methodology saw the implementation of brackish spaces, inside and outside, that allow defence personnel and the general public to come together in a multitude of ways. PACC’s pop-up composition allows the reuse of modular units which can be relocated without having to demolish or rebuild a new activation. In turn, reducing carbon emissions and material waste.
